At yesterday’s Opening Session, I was officially inducted to the The HRSouthwest Conference’s Speaker Hall of Fame. This recognition is a tremendous honor. I’ve spoken at HR Southwest for more than two decades.
Later that morning, I presented a session called “Leadership is a Series of Negotiations” to a fabulous audience of the best HR Professionals! Later, an interview with a leaders Mike Coffey, SPHR, SHRM-SCP ✅ On hand were friends Courtney Ramsey, CSP Summer Jelinek – Professional Keynote Speaker Bruce W. Waller, CRP, PHR, SHRM-CP and Paige Boyett, SPHR and negotiating expert Scott Tillema.
Speaking legends and my friends fellow Red Raiders Randy Anderson, CSP and Julie Burch, President Julie Burch Speaks, UTD Alum Deborah Avrin, and Michael Moriety were inducted into HRSW in the past few years.
When I studied Broadcast Journalism at Texas Tech University, now the College of Media & Communication, Texas Tech University and studied law at @Texas Tech University School of Law, I could not have dreamed how the two degrees could lead me to a career in speaking and teaching about negotiations, dispute resolution, and leadership.
Fun fact: One of the students from my university, The University of Texas at Dallas and Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas Emily Maturino joined me in my morning session. She received one of DallasHR‘s prestigious scholarships. The Drew Young HR Education Scholarship and the Excellence in HR Education Scholarships which helps undergraduate and graduate students continue their studies in human resources. Recipients receive money toward their education, registration, and accommodation at The HRSouthwest Conference.
What a wonderful day! Thank you HRSouthwest Conference for all you do for so many!
One of the Best Days of my Life!
