Just heard my friend and sportscaster Newy Scruggs, MBA at NSA North Texas. Newy spoke about having the information and tools available and doing nothing with them.
How many times have you bought the book, downloaded the recording, or even attended the class and done nothing with the information?
Having the information and not acting is no different than sleeping with the text book under your pillow to pass a test. You can’t expect information to sink in through osmosis. The information is there, but you have to open the book, read it, and study.
Negotiation is like that. You can read and listen to all the experts. However, to become a negotiator, you must Go ask the question. Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice is proof that you can ask, negotiate, and survive.
The word “Go” is even part of the word. Today, what could you go ask that would move forward. It’s fun that the second picture also includes one of my favorite negotiators, my former law partner Wendel Withrow.
Go Negotiate!
